AVG v9 and Avast with Host Checker

I'm running ESAP 1.5.3 and it appears the new version of AVG v9 is not supported by the Host Checker. Any ideas on when it will be fixed. This is going to be urgent for us as we have a lot of remote users accessing the Juniper from home and many use free Antivirus apps, like AVG. No doubt if one user has already upgraded many others will also.

The latest version of Avast doesn't seem to work either with Windows 7 when connecting using the Hostchecker. Not sure if it works with older operating systems. Haven't tested yet. I only know this as I personally use Avast at home.

A new ESAP version would be very handy as soon as possibel to fix these issues.

Re: AVG v9 and Avast with Host Checker

ESAP 1.5.4 indicates support for [AVG Technologies] AVG 9 [AntiVirus] 9.x

Our experience with 1.5.4 is that the AVG 9 paid version works with the ESAP and AVG 9 Free does not.

Re: AVG v9 and Avast with Host Checker

Same here.. We're runing ESAP 1.5.4 and AVGFree 9 does not work. Avast4.8 is also not working for most if not all of our clients. I went ahead and put in custom rules for AVG9, haven't downloaded aVast yet to see how I can identify that one...

Re: AVG v9 and Avast with Host Checker

could you post your custom rules for AVG9? got a number of users who were forced to upgrade last week, but I don't have a copy I can check to create them myself...

Avast 4.8 works fine for us on Vista & XP - it's just windows 7 users who won't work (running 6.4R2 with ESAP 1.5.4 - I hope when they finally officially support windows 7 this'll change)

Re: AVG v9 and Avast with Host Checker

AVG 9 Free support is likely to be in ESAP 1.5.5. Juniper has been working on adding this support.

Re: AVG v9 and Avast with Host Checker

This is what we are currently using... Once ESAP 1.5.5 comes out I'll delete these on my test box and give it a try.... AVG_Processx64 Processes Process Name: avgnsa.exe required AVG_Process Processes Process Name: avgnsx.exe required AVG_Filex64 Files required C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG\AVG9\sc.dat File modified less than 14 days ago. AVG_File Files required C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG9\sc.dat File modified less than 14 days ago. (AVG_Processx64 AND AVG_Filex64) or (AVG_Process AND AVG_File) Ok.. How do I get the line feeds to come through? This is very annoying to read... Sorry..

We are running into the same issue with 1.5.4. It does not recognize AVG Free 9.0.7.07

Re: AVG v9 and Avast with Host Checker

Howdy,

As I posted in a related thread I work for OPSWAT. the company that provides the support charts for Juniper's Host Checker. AVG is a member of our interoperability certification program OESIS OK (http://www.oesisok.com/), which is the surest way for them to guarantee interoperability, however they have not yet submitted AVG 9 for certification testing. We would encourage you to send a note to them to remind them to submit their applications.

You can also test your system using our free Am I OESIS OK? utility, downloadable on the website. It will rate the level of interoperability with Juniper's solutions for your system's installed security applications.

Avast! is not yet a member. They have been contacted in the past as we seek to work with any any every AV vendor, however, they have not yet signed up. It is possible they don't yet understand how changes in their products affect users that employ Juniper's solutions. Being contacted by endpoint customers would likely change that. I would encourage you to contact them as well.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Re: AVG v9 and Avast with Host Checker

Hi,

I'm running 6.5R1 with ESAP 1.5.7, and AVG 9 Free and AVAST 4 are not detecting the signatures as up to date.

Should it be working now ? If not, do you have any ETA for that ?

Thanks !
Martin

Re: AVG v9 and Avast with Host Checker

I'm currently running 6.5R2 on a clustered SA4000 w/ ESAP 1.5.7 and AVG9 Free works correctly running on a Windows 7 box. Also have XP/Vista users using it without an issue as well.
