Hello,
One of my users is unable to login to our SSL VPN with IE8... after entering his username/password he gets a IE error message stating "Internet Expiorer has closed this web page to help protect your computer".
I found this KB article regarding adding an exclusion to DEP... http://kb.pulsesecure.net/KB15191. Unfortunately, I could not add Host Checker to the exclusion list as the Host Checker files are not yet on the computer. I tried manually copying the Host Checker files to the proper directory on the computer, then added to the DEP exception list but I still get the same IE error when trying to login.
Does anybody know what else I can try?
Thanks in advance for your help!
-Dave
Solved! Go to Solution.
go to the users internet options and reset the security and advanced tabs to default and give it a try
In that case you may want to try to disable DEP (i.e. select "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only") and once HC is installed you can add HC to the exclusion list.
IE behaves like this when you visit a site with malware or when one of your add-ons is misbehaving.
First, try visiting with IE in 'safe mode' (no add-on mode). I've heard this may be caused by e.g. a corrupt Flash player.
If that doesn't help, look at the configured untrusted sites or check if you have indicated the ActiveX controls as malware.
I have seen this issue one time in the past. This might help solve the issue:
The user had the Microsoft Java VM installed. Once the old MS Java VM was removed, the issue went away. It seems that MS IE 8's DEP doesn't approve of the old MS Java VM.
Note: Microsoft stopped supporting their Java VM a long time ago.
Thanks for the replies everyone. Resetting the IE Security settings fixed the problem on the particular machine I was having the problem on. One weird thing though... I didn't experience the problem on my computer even though I had the same security settings. Hmmm...
