Cheap effective alternative for HOB java RDP applet for mac and linux users

I thought some other forum members here might like an alternative to licensing the fairly pricey HOB java rdp applet on their ssl/vpn devices for mac and linux users. We've successfully implemented both the HTML5 and Java rdp options from the guys over at http://www.remotespark.com/ . The java version needs a little bit of development still in my opinion but it's very close to ready. The HTML5 version works great and has a beautiful resolution option of "fill browser window". The best part is that the licensing (last time I checked) is $24/concurrent user license/year with minimum purchase of 10 licenses. I've had some emails back and forth with them regarding feature implementations and some adjustments to the java applet version and they've been very quick to respond and very helpful. They helped me configure the HTML portion as well to get the java applet version working. Installation of the java applet version is obvious for anyone who has played with that section of their Juniper device before. For the HTML5 version (which I must note, works great out of the box with most browsers, IE users however need to install chrome frame for the best performance, but typically windows users will be using the real rdp client, not an alternative) we just set up the gateway software they provide, installed it on a pc behind our firewall (the configuration is relatively simple) and then created a bookmark on the users realm alongside their normal terminal server link. I highly recommend trying them out. Tell them that you heard about them on the Juniper forums Smiley Happy

My understanding is that you need 7.4 in order to support web sockets.

Yes currently the websockets are supported from 7.4Rx

http://www.juniper.net/techpubs/software/ive/releasenotes/j-sa-sslvpn-7.4r1-whatsnew.pdf

HTML5 Support (Phase 1)
Junos Pulse Secure Access Service 7.4 provides support for HTML5
through Rewriter, with new elements, attributes, and APIs.
HTML5 support for Pulse Secure Access Service 7.4 is supported in
Microsoft Internet Explorer 10, the latest Mozilla Firefox Extended
Support Release (ESR), Apple Safari running on Microsoft Windows
7 and Windows 8, Apple Mac OSX 10.7 and Mac OSX 10.8, Linux
Ubuntu, Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), and Apple iOS 5.x.
Additionally, support for both audio and video multimedia traffic is
available, and without the need for any additional plug-ins.
HTML5 support in Pulse Secure Access Service 7.4 can scale to
thousands of users, which remains on a par with the standard
support for Rewriter sessions.
Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) access in Junos Pulse Secure
Access Service 7.4 can be delivered over HTML5, via third-party
RDP, through a WebSockets translator such as Ericom (www.
ericom.com).
