I am using 6.4R1 on a SA4000 Cluster. I have multiple sub domains under my primary domain.
sub1.domain.gov
sub2.domain.gov
my issue is where can I push down to clients the sub domains as we have some apps calling by host name only, and it only appends domain.gov to the hostname and tries to resolve and fails, and won't append sub1.domain.gov or sub2.domain.gov to the hostname and attempt to resolve which would result in getting the correct ip and in turn be able to attach to the server. I know if I go into my advanced tcp/ip settings for my network connection in windows I can add sub1, sub2 and so on, and watch in the ive event log and it will then attempt to append all the correct sub domains and query and get back the correct ip but I have multiple companies that connect in so I can expect them to add this info in. Is there any way I can have the appliance populate that info or have the IVE by default append those sub domains and not just the primary domain.gov to its DNS queries?
Have you tried adding your sub domains to the DNS Domain(s) field under Network-->Overview?
I had actually looked at that I just didn't see anything that stated either way whether or not those would get appended when a dns query was made by a client or not. I assume from your response that it will in fact append any sub domains I add to the list?
Yes, the Rewriter, SAM, Terminal Services, etc. will use the domain suffixes listed in the DNS Domain(s) field.
