Will 1.5.5 include support for the AVG 9.0 Free Edition? I saw the Paid Version of AVG 9.0 was supported in 1.5.4 but not the Free Edition.
I work for OPSWAT, the company that provides the support charts for ESAP. AVG is a member of our software interoperability certification program OESIS OK (http://www.oesisok/), however they have not yet submitted the AVG 9 applications for certification. What issues are you having?
I would also suggest contacting AVG to remind them to send their products to us to ensure ongoing support within Juniper's products.
i think that this a major issue that in the release note it says that AVG 9 is support and that on the other hand you say that AVG is not a member...
the issue is that the AVG 9 is not being recognized by the ESAP thus failing in the HC process
Support for AVG 9 Free was aded in the October release of the OESIS Framework. So, I would imagine the next ESAP update will have support.
AVG is a member of our program, but it works best when the vendors are submitting their applcations to us prior to release. Many vendors think that the only products they need to worry about are the enterprise-level security apps. Sometimes they just need a little reminder from endpoint users like yourselves that that isn't necessarily the case...
You may to consider implementing a fall-back check leveraging:
1. Host Checker custom registry/process check
2. Remotely scanning of endpoints running OPSWAT GEARS Client with Metascan Online
GEARS Client enumerates running processes and uploads hashes for a look-up in Metascan Online's database. The binaries associated with any unknown hashes are then uploaded for live scanning by approx. 40 antimalware engines. Based on the result (infection found / no infection) of the scan GEARS sets a registry or P-List value that Host Checker reads.
An GEARS Configuration Guide for Host Checker is at https://gears.opswat.com/integration/secure-access and attached
