Exchange and Android

I have read several posts on the forums about checking exchange email using Android OS. Some were using Exchange Activesync, is this the best way? Is the best way to use the Email Client Resource Profile? I am unclear on how to do this.

How do you configure the IVE so that an Android Smartphone, such as the Verizon Wireless Droid by Motorola, can check email on an Microsoft Exchange 2007 server?

Thank you,
Richard

Re: Exchange and Android

when i tested the verizon droid it did not even posses the capability to connect to exchange without purchasing a third party application and its not until the Nexus one that exchange support will be included in droids, there were several other issues with it that made us stick with the Omnia II instead. for more info i would check modaco.com or ppcgeeks.com

Re: Exchange and Android

Well I can definitely tell you that it has exchange support, as I have one in my possession. One of the options when setting up an email account is Exchange.

What do you guys think?

Re: Exchange and Android

if you can do a corporate lookup then you either have the newer version of software or might be paying the extra fee

Verizon will offer three tiers of data plans:

$30 per month on top of your voice plan to add data and non-Exchange support
$45 per month on top of your voice plan to add data and Exchange support
$50 per month for a data-only plan

Verizon justifies the Exchange surcharge by saying that the Droid is primarily a consumer phone and that the corporate e-mail usage increase also applies to other smartphones, like the BlackBerry, and isnÕt specific to just the Droid.

things might have changed and i also dont want to veer off the topic starters post too far

Re: Exchange and Android

I understand the service agreements that you posted. I am using a phone what is on a corporate plan.

Does anyone have an idea on how to connect using the IVE?

Thanks,
Richard

Re: Exchange and Android

to connect to mine i need to set my browser to view pages as mobile device, then go to my portal and log in, scroll down to windows secure application manager and click start, i am then taken to a page that says i either have an old version or am missing wsam with a link to download it. from there its pretty straight forward, hope this helps

edit: disregard, i thought you were trying to connect to the IVE with your droid
