Gettign around disabled Split tunneling on VPN client

Has anyone been able to detect if a client is in a Virtual Machine and stop it from connecting based on this?

I haven't seen this done before, but you'd have to check something that is only seen in vmware. I believe in a vmware system the hard drive ID or serial number is 0000000001 or something similar. If that value was in the registry could use it to drop systems with host checker.

You could check the running services... My Vm server and workstation are both running three services named "VMwareService.exe, VMwareUser.exe, VMwareTray.exe".

This is because you installed the VMware drivers in your VM (which not all users do).

Also, this doesn't apply to VM's in VirtualBox, VirtualPC, or any other VM environment.

So what you all are saying is anyone with Vista and XP mode installed can get around the option to turn of split tunneling?
