Help Needed - End User With Low Internet Speeds

Hey Guys & Gals!

I need some help with a situation where one of our VP's moved into a new area where his max available internet speed is atrocious!
His new house is too far away from the providers equipment and he's only getting 3 Mbps...Three....Tres...it's a sad affair.

What have you guys found (if anything) that can work for this scenario?
I was thinking about creating a HTML5 or Terminal Services bookmark with every graphical option at near minimum level, but not sure if that's best.

I would recommend the Pulse client with L3 VPN (ESP mode to take advantage of tcp over UDP rather than TCP over TCP)

Is there any other option that you may be able to recommend?

Our IT Information Security Team will not allow any L3's at this point

In that case the next best option would be the terminal services bookmark as you had initially suggested.

If it helps getting your info sec to approve there are several level of security measures you can add to the l3 tunnel option.

1. Check endpoint for safety and compliance using an wide range of endpoint assessment options (hostchecker)
2. Turn on resource based tunnel (i.e. d only allow the RDP destination in the tunnel list and in the ACL list)

Would you recommend the Terminal Services connection vs. the HTML5?

If that is the case, what would be your driving factors for ding so?

Yes Chris I recommend windows term services over HTML5 as you can control the display, etc much more easily through terminal services settings.

Note: I haven't done a bandwidth consumption comparison between the two, maybe you can turn on both options for this end-user and ask them to use the one that seems better.

Let us know if you end up doing a comparison or if the end-user compares both and prefers one of them more than the other.

For me the edge that html5 offers is that it will work from any client OS, if this is not a constraint I would still prefer terminal services.

I've setup both connections (Terminal Services & HTML5) and am currently in testing.

This got me thinking about serving up a speed test to the end user to check their network connection.
Setting up a Web application to a speed test site though I'm worried would muddy the data as it's going through the VPN.
Is there a way to have the Pulse Hardware open up a test on their local browser?
