Host Checker Incompatible with Mavericks (OS X 10.9)

Testing with an SA6500 running 7.4R4 (build 26411) and a Mack Book Pro running OS X 10.9, Java 7u45 and Safari 7.0.

Host Checker does not appear to load. I'm just seeing a red dot.

Is anyone else getting a different result?

Do we have an ETA on compatibility?

Thanks!

8)      On the right-hand side, choose the ÔCurrently Open WebsitesÕ (your SSL VPN web site) and click on the drop-down box

9)      Choose ÔAllow AlwaysÕ and ÔRun in Unsafe ModeÕ (Choose TRUST if a prompt is displayed)

10)   Click on Done

Re: Host Checker Incompatible with Mavericks (OS X 10.9)

Seems the hostchecker also does not see the firewall turned on as it did before Mavericks.  We are using pulse but can see upgraded machines are failing because the HC can not tell the OSX firewall is enabled.

Re: Host Checker Incompatible with Mavericks (OS X 10.9)

PG, thank you for the quick reply. I can confirm that this worked for me. Host Checker installed properly and successfully detected my Kaspersky AV.

Thanks for the great work around, PG.

Re: Host Checker Incompatible with Mavericks (OS X 10.9)

I can confirm that the Firewall checks for the hostchecker is not working for me as well on 10.9

Do we need to change anything to allow Juniper to detect firewalls?

Re: Host Checker Incompatible with Mavericks (OS X 10.9)

On 10.9

neither JSAM, Network Connect or Junos Pulse will launch for me in Safari and Firefox does not invoke hostchecker and chrome is not 64bit so it does not play with JAVA

Has anyone else run in to this?  after changing security settings, I installed the JuniperSetupClientInstaller.dmg but stull nothing.  Just a continuous loop.

I was able to install Junos Pulse downloaded from the /admin console and that works.

Re: Host Checker Incompatible with Mavericks (OS X 10.9)

Please use ESAP 2.4.6 available on the support site and let us know if it works.

ESAP is available for download @ ESAP Download

As per : ESAP 2.4.6 release notes suport has been added for :

Firewall Products

[Apple Computer, Inc.] Mac OS X Builtin Firewall (10.9.x)

Thanks.

Re: Host Checker Incompatible with Mavericks (OS X 10.9)

For the built-in OSX firewall check for 10.9 you will have to upgrade to ESAP 2.4.6. I'd recommend reviewing and subscribing to KB  http://kb.pulsesecure.net/InfoCenter/index?page=content&id=kb28278 for details on 10.9 support in general

Re: Host Checker Incompatible with Mavericks (OS X 10.9)

Are you sure you did the following?

1. Java Applets blocked by default: On OSX 10.9 (Mavericks), Safari 7's default action for Java applets is to block them. This prevents Pulse, Host Checker and JSAM from launching when accessed via Safari (912652, 922721) To work around this problem, do the following steps:

  • Use Safari to browse to the SA or IC. Log in and attempt to deploy Host Checker or JSAM. (this will not work).
  • Open Safari Preferences, click the Security tab and choose "Manage Website Settings..." next to the Internet Plug-ins checkbox.
  • Click on Java and find the SA/IC URL listed on the right columnChange the pulldown for that listing to "Run in unsafe mode"

Did you install JuniperSetupClientInstaller.dmg as a standalone application instead of letting it install with NC and/or JSAM via Safari browser?  If so, I would recommend removing the setup client and letting it install with NC or JSAM.  If your browser security settings are set properly it should work.
