Hi,
I have created a host checker (Antivirus) for a role, in this role users use computers and Ipads. Computers can go in correctly but with Ipad they have problem when i active the HostCheckerAV. Do you know if there is any problem with Ipad and Hostchecker?? Should Hostchecker ignore Ipads???
Thanks so much
There is no problem.
The Host Checker simply does not support IPad.
So you will have to create an extra rule without HC for the IPad users.
If your looking for a way to check if the end user is using an iPad, you can use the browser restriction and search for the user agent string associated with an iPad.
Host Checker should be consered to OS agnostic - IE - it does not actually check for an OS before performing the specified host check. Host check downloads a Java agent and the check is performed. As the iPad does not support any form of host check you can't use it. It is usually better to create a seperate realm for mobile devices and limit the checks to browser type as mentioned in the other post.
Mobile device host check will also never come from the SA box. It will be delivered by the Juniper MSS (Mobile Security Suite.) Right now there is no support for the IOS but that is supposed to change in the future.
to update: host checker for iOS is now available in 7.2 (only) of the IVE OS when used with the Junos Pulse client 3.2 and later. Please note that the iOS app is still pending approval by Apple, but should be available soon (barring any unexpected failures).
