Re: Host Checker and Norton Antivirus 2009

Thanks for testing this for us. I'll have to do a work around in the meantime I think which is frustrating. I'm very disappointed in the fact that Juniper puts in their documentation that this is supported when it's not. Not impressed. Let's hope they fix this prior to taking 1.4.6 out of Beta.

Re: Host Checker and Norton Antivirus 2009

I just noticed there is a ESAP v1.4.7 now available. The doco states:

Norton Internet Security 2009 (v16) is now detected on a 32_bit XP with Security
Centre disabled. (399877)

Does anyone know about this version release and if the bugs are fixed?

Thanks

Re: Host Checker and Norton Antivirus 2009

ESAP 1.4.7 has fixes for NIS AV and FW.

For Non XP 32 - bit systems though:

7. The Anti_Virus Check for Norton Internet Security 2009 (v16) and Norton AntiVirus 2009 will not be correct on a non_XP_32bit machine with security centre disabled.

Workaround: If the security center service is disabled and you are on a Non_XP 32 bit machine it is required that the Early Load of the Auto_Protect feature be enabled. This feature can be enabled by opening the AntiVirus or Internet Security Options, selecting the Real_Time Protection tab, and under Auto_Protect, you will find "Early Load".

Re: Host Checker and Norton Antivirus 2009

Any idea if 1.47 detects AVG Free 8.5?

Re: Host Checker and Norton Antivirus 2009

Well I downloaded a 15 day trial version of Norton AV 2009 and updated our version of ESAP to 1.4.7 and to my surprise it works. The new version of ESAP has fixed the Norton's problem :-)

Re: Host Checker and Norton Antivirus 2009

Looks like AVG Free 8.5 is still failing on ESAP 1.47

Reason: 'Anti-Virus or Anti-Spyware software listed in security requirements is not installed.'.

Re: Host Checker and Norton Antivirus 2009

For some reason I can't get norton to work even with :The Anti_Virus Check for Norton Internet Security 2009 (v16) and Norton AntiVirus 2009 will not be correct on a non_XP_32bit machine with security centre disabled.

Any idea's?

Re: Host Checker and Norton Antivirus 2009

I am in the same boat. I have users failing on non-XP machines and the "Early Load" work around did not work around anything.

Re: Host Checker and Norton Antivirus 2009

I have to say when I said v1.4.7 fixed my problem, I meant in XP. I haven't had the requirement yet where are using is running Norton's on a non-XP machine. I'm sure it will come up soon so hopefully Juniper can sort this out as well as the AVG 8.5 issue.
