Host Checker did not get installed properly.

We are getting an error when a user attempts to connect to our SSL Sign in page "Host Checker did not get installed properly". We have tried removing the client but the SSL VPN page does not prompt us to reinstall once we've uninstalled. We manually deployed the file with the same results. We've tried several different browsers with the same results.

How can we figure out why host checker won't launch and why some workstations are getting the error?

Running into the same issue here. Only affects some users.

Re: Host Checker did not get installed properly.

Check for compatible and qualified platforms.

What is the Version on the SA?
Client Operating system?

Service packon the client?

Browser version the client is on?

is it 32 bit/64bit browser that you are using?

Re: Host Checker did not get installed properly.

Don't know if this helps but, I had a similar incident happen to me for two orginizations that I've worked for. What I found out was in my scenario, the antivirus on the machine was not allowing host checker to execute from the temp folder once it was installed. Once I turned off that feature in McCafee I was able to install host checker with no issues?

This of course was for a windows machine. Hope that helps.

Re: Host Checker did not get installed properly.

Did the user ever say "no" to the allow prompt from the IVE setup control? Did the user ever decline the activex control? The latter is saved as a cookie on the machine and it will not be removed unless you manually do it.

Re: Host Checker did not get installed properly.

dtlam76, I tried that but then all I get is 'McAfee VirusScan 15.6.245 does not comply with policy. Compliance requires latest virus definitions, which is up-to-date. I have a current case open with Juniper about McAfee support so it may fall in the same lines as this.

zanyterp, I see the question come up, I click yes and everythign appears to install nomrally. Except I get the host checker did not install correctly when I try to login. So I am seeing the same thing as the OP.

Re: Host Checker did not get installed properly.

Hmm if it says that McAfee Viruscan 15.6.245 does not comply with policy. Check the auth policies for host checker for that realm.

1. log into box

2. under "users" tab click on "user realm"

3. choose the realm that your having an issue with and click on the realm under the "authentication realm' column

4. click on the "authentication policy " tab

5. then click "host checker"

6. this should show you what host checker polices are being enforced.

7. then look at the "authentication tab" and click "endpoint security"

8. Scroll down and then investigate how the policy for McAfee was configured.

9. If the virus definitions are different bam you have your answer.

btw is this the only machine that it's happening on and is it happending only on one profile or many user profiles?
