Host Checker issue with Firefox

Greetings,

We have an issue on one of our computer where the Host Checker keeps looping through the verification process over and over. It does the verification, we see the green circle and then it reloads the page and start over. Clicking on the "click here" for the manual verification does the same issue.

The issue occurs in Firefox.

Here are the version/details I could find:

- Firefox version: 33.0.3
- Juniper Networks Host checker version: 8.0.6.32195

We tried to uninstall the program, but when we were trying to launch the page again, the software was not installed automatically, we had to go through Internet Explorer to fix this.

We also tried to clear the cache in Firefox.

The reason we need Firefox is that we need some features not available/working correctly in Internet Explorer but working fine in Firefox.

Is there any way to fix this issue?

Thanks a lot for your time.

Re: Host Checker issue with Firefox

Greetings,

After extensive research, we found that the culprit was the cookies.sqlite file in the Mozilla profile folder.

Renaming (or deleting) that file resolved the problem.

Thanks a lot for your time and help again.

Re: Host Checker issue with Firefox

Hi,

I have tried with the same SA and FF version. Issue is not reproducible

This may be specific to the HC policy, do you have any logs to share?

You may require to open a case with the support team.

Thanks

Not without GSC support, no; it sounds like it is something specific in your environment.
Is this all machines?

Re: Host Checker issue with Firefox

Greetings,

I would gladly provide logs, I tried to find them, the computer having issues is on Windows 7 SP1.

I checked the following for the logs:

c:\users\<username>\AppData\Local\Juniper Networks

c:\users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Juniper Networks

And I was unable to find anything specific to Host Checker (except the installation folder).

We have the same website working on a different computer, I think it's local on the machine as well.

I also tried to uninstall and reinstall the application again without any success.

Where are the logs stored so I can provide them?

Thanks a lot for your time and help again.

Re: Host Checker issue with Firefox

Glad you were able to find solution.
Was it holding the cookies incorrectly for the Host Checker applet?

The logs are in %public%\Juniper Networks\Logging\*.log after you enable them on the server at System>Log/Monitoring>Client Logs>Settings

Re: Host Checker issue with Firefox

Greetings,

Unfortunately I do not have access to the computer anymore as the user is away for some days.

After we deleted the cookies file, we did not investigate further.

We kept the old file by adding the .old extension on the users' computer.

Since he is away, I will not be able to provide any further information, although I could as soon as he gets back.

My guess is that the cookie for that specific website did not write correctly in the cookies file.

As for the logs, if they are still needed, I can check with the user as well.

Thanks a lot for your time and help again.

Re: Host Checker issue with Firefox

Hi,

Yesterday I was working with a similar case but with Chrome.

We overcome this situation by using a different URL for the SA. So it can be something related with the cookies in the browser. When I receive the logs from the client, what should I look for?
