We are seeing an issue with our MAC client when host checker is running. Sometimes it takes forever to launch. Users have said it can be as fast as seconds to as long as 5 minutes. This is only happening to our MAC clients and now Windows based OS computers. Has anyone else seen this issue?
Sadly, no, we haven't seen this yet.
Are you Mac users on their own realm & sign-in URL (this will make it easier to use overall)?
have one sign in URL, but a different role and realm for the MAC users. Host Checker detects the OS and gives them a specific policy. It was not alweays like that, it may have been an update on the MAC side. Just hoping to see if someone else ran into it.
Yes, I have seen this as well launching with Safari on Mac OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard. With version Safari 5.0.5, I can wait 30 to 60 seconds, and then click the reload button to force it to load. I tested Safari 5.1 this morning on the same device and it seemed to hang completely at the host checker loading page; even trying to reload did not work.
I'm not sure about the slowness to launch on Safari 5.0.5 as I haven't see that or heard any reports of it.
I am not surprised that Host Checker is not working with Safari 5.1; I haven't tested it, but I know this version has caused other items to not work that rely on Java due to changes Apple made in the underlying frameworks.
JTAC told me to upgrade my IVE to the latest rev. but the Safari 5.1 issue will not be resolved until September so I prefer not to upgrade twice in the next month.
I am hoping someone has a fix. Since Host Checker does not have an install for the MAC it just runs each tme. I am thinking it may be a security setting on the MAC, but not sure what setting that would be.
Hi tmull60,
Were you able to solve this issue?
I am experiencing the same issue on windows based computers.
The launching of Host Checker can take up to 10 min
the evaluation/enforcing is not the issue but the launching.
Thanks
