Host checker on Vista 64 bit

IVE is 6.1 R3.

We have a customer Registry set for Host Checker since Netscreen time. It still works for Vista 32-bit system but does work with Vista 64-bit. The user log shows it receives a wrong value. Tried turn off/on Vista UAC but no help.

Any idea?

Re: Host checker on Vista 64 bit

You have to place the registry key in a different location, and it will work. I had set mine for HKLM\Software, and for Vista 64 I had to place the key in HKLM\Software\Wow6432node\.

Good luck.

Re: Host checker on Vista 64 bit

Discovered this on XP 64 bit as well. We are running 6.3R2 (build 13725). It is also affecting our AV check for Symantec. We have the check verifying only the Symantec Corp product which it is identifying without issue. Where it goes south is when it believes its definition updates are out of date. We allow 2 updates back and enforce a definition update for remediation. It does the remediation but says it is already up to date. Then it still fails the check.

Re: Host checker on Vista 64 bit

Would you please provide more detailed information about what you did to solve this issue?

What registry keys should be moved or added?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Host checker on Vista 64 bit

We have a key set on 32-bit under HKLM\Software\ for a long time, for example "HKLM\Software\IVEUser". For a 64-bit Vista, the same key need set under HKLM\Software\Wow6432node\, that is "HKLM\Software\Wow6432node\IVEUser".

No need to change/add any Host Checker entry on Juniper IVE box. It will use same entry ("HKLM\Software\IVEUser") for both 32- and 64-bit client.
