Re: How Pass through proxy works?

The SA acts as a reverse proxy for web content and attempts to re-write it. Some applications fail when passed through the core access method, with the Passthrough Proxy feature the re-writing is by-passed. The SA either needs to have a TCP port configured to listen on for these requests or a hostname added for clients to connect to. When a client connects to the passthrough proxy the SA forwards the HTTP traffic to the destination server. p.414 and p.468 of the Admin Guide has details on how it works and how to configure it.

Re: How Pass through proxy works?

Thanks dear. But my question is that which applications dont like core access method by SSL VPN and why due to which we have to use pass through proxy?

Thanks

Re: How Pass through proxy works?

There is no way to know beforehand. Flash, for example, while not supported in the core rewriter above version 7, may work through passthrough proxy rewriting for instance; another item that requires passthrough proxy is Jinitiator access.

Re: How Pass through proxy works?

so it means that when pass through proxy is enabled then SSL VPN does not do the reverse proxy? It direct forward the http request to the destination?

Thanks

Re: How Pass through proxy works?

No; it is still not going direct. The passthrough proxy option is a less-intensive form of rewriting; all traffic continues to pass through the IVE. The difference in virtual hostname-based passthrough proxy is that the address in your address bar matches what the client connects to. For example, if you have oracle.corp.com configured through the standard rewriter, your URL will look like https://vpn.corp.com/path/,DanaInfo=oracle.corp.com+arguments. If you use passthrough proxy configured as a virtual hostname, the address bar will change to passthroughproxyoracle.corp.com.
