Hey all!
We're upgrading from our SA-1000 to a SA 2500 and I'm wondering if there is a way to push out the RDP client to end users. We have multiple companies that connect in to us and their users don't have administrative access to install the RDP client unless they sign in specifically as admin, and then its a huge manual process.
Any thoughts/ideas?
Oh, and we're just using windows RDP, no citrix or java client.
I noticed nobody had responded to you yet, so I figured I'd at least give what I've seen on the forums previously. Perhaps someone will elaborate.
As far as installation packages go, Juniper only gives the Network Connect client, Installer Service, and Host Checker. As far as I know there are no methods for building a package for the RDP client.
I think what you're looking for is the JuniperInstallerService. If you have this deployed by your customers' IT group(s), then the rdp client should be installed by that running service. I know that it handles installing network connect for non-admin users.
You can find it (with the rest of the installers) under Maintenance->System->Installers
Unfortunately, no, this is not available as a stand-alone installer; it needs to be installed on the fly.
As @stine said, your option in something like this is to have your customer IT groups push out the Juniper Installer Service so that it installs as an admin on the end-user machines. This action will allow the clients to upgrade when needed when the connect without the admin group needing to login and do the installation manually.
