Thanks for the answer, Zanyterp, it wasn't set to Windows XP but that gave me an idea of forcing it to Windows 7.
That didn't work so i went ahead and deleted the whole Juniper forlder in %programfiles%\Common FIles\
This time, I didn't get the error from my first post which is a good sign BUT it still didn't manage to install for some reason
I get this now:
In times like these i usually give up and reinstall but this time i would really like to try and fix it or understand what's causing this.
Hello and sorry for my late reply, still here and not giving up just yet
I only have JuniperSetupDLL.dll along with other files but not JuniperSetupClientDLL.dll .
I did find JuniperSetupClient.exe but there's also a JuniperSetupXP.exe . Is it normal or..?
After deleting the JuniperSetupClient.exe file, attempting to install the client takes me to the page:
"Please wait
Launching Junos Pulse. etc etc."
Then nothing happpens. So i uninstalled Junos via Control Panel, deleted the (%appdata%\roaming\juniper networks) folder and went to reinstall it.
Downloading the client went smoothly but the installer still crashes at 33%.
There's also a Logging folder with a debuglog.log in it. Here's what i found at the end of this log.
00169,09 2013/01/28 09:49:39.873 1 *** JuniperSetupClient.exe JuniperSetupClient p8608 t17E4 JuniperSetupClient.cpp:129 - 'WinMain()' External event set, stop the socket thread 00165,09 2013/01/28 09:49:39.873 1 *** JuniperSetupClient.exe JuniperSetupClient p8608 t23AC JuniperSetupSocket.cpp:194 - 'JuniperSetupSocket::run()' accept() failed: 10004 00147,09 2013/01/28 09:49:39.873 1 *** JuniperSetupClient.exe JuniperSetupClient p8608 t17E4 JuniperSetupClient.cpp:137 - 'WinMain()' Quit the application
As usual thanks in advance for your time and replies, guys.
looks like there is another item preventing install.
does the install fail only through the web or also through direct install using the msi?
do other components install successfully?
Thru the web it always fails @ 33%, using the msi takes a second or less until it shows completed but nothing is installed
I'm running into this same error. This only occurs when the machine has had the Pulse client installed previously and then signs into the site to get it re-installed. I haven't run into this issue with a machine that has never had it installed before.
If I manually install from the downloadable package the installation works fine.
If anyone has any insight I would appreciate it.
I have also encountered such problem in Junos Pulse version 5.0.6.
The problem happens in my Win Vista and Win 7 Pro workstations.
The error message is so confusing and misleading.
Does anyone find out the root cause and solution of it? Thanks.
JuniperCompMgr.exe is downloaded and run from C:\windows\TEMP\

Then JuniperCompMgr.exei is restarted with a command line argument.
If a local copy is installed on the system, this version is preferred. Unfortunately this local version is set to run is "Windows XP" compatibility mode

JuniperCompMgr.exe started from "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Juniper Networks\JSCDT" sees a Windows XP 64bit OS, so the upgrade process ends (as Windows XP 64bit is not supported)

Check the properties of C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Juniper Networks\JSCDT\JuniperCompMgr.exe.
For some reason (can someone explain why), this exe is running is Windows XP compatibility mode.
