Java SE 8 Free Update Support Ending Late 2020

Hi there,

Will this be affecting any Pulse Secure products and those who use them?

https://www.java.com/en/download/release_notice.jsp

Further:
https://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/java-se-support-roadmap.html

The main point is that Java SE 8 free update support ends at the end of 2020. Thereafter you will need to buy a license. So, if someone is using a Pulse Secure product, will they essentially need a subscription with Java as well when 2020 comes around.

Re: Java SE 8 Free Update Support Ending Late 2020

Hello @AD ,

For the use of Pulse Secure the user will have to use Pulse Secure Application Launcher (PSAL) to deliver and launch Pulse Client applications without the use of Activex/Java.

This was an alternate solution implemented in 8.2R1 an above.

Pulse Secure Application Launcher allows installation of below components :
Pulse Client
Host Checker
Terminal services
Network Connect
WSAM

Note: Starting from 8.3R3, we have also added PSAL support for launching the HOB applet and JSAM.
