June 2015 Leap Second

Hi All,

Apologies if this has been asked before but is there anything we need to do on SA/MAG devices to accommodate the extra leap second on 30 June 2015?

Thanks

Natasha

Configure NTP and you are good to go.

Re: June 2015 Leap Second

hi,

i hope this solution is applicable for all juniper products....please confirm and it would be great if we have a product specific or junos release specific document.

Also is there a way to simulate this and check if the product updates as per the NTP leap second adjustment ?

Re: June 2015 Leap Second

The document really just confirms how NTP works and that it covers this use case.

Really the only time NTP won't adjust time is if the offset is too large and the system will thus ignore the update. These parameters are set differently by vendors and are there to prevent the accidental large changes in time because an upstream NTP server had an error. For small changes like this there is no issue.

To test the behavior you would need to direct your devices to an NTP server you control then change the clock on that server and look at the logs on your devices to confirm they saw and adjusted their time.
