Hi, I am thinking to purchase the SA2500 with Secure Meeting function to use for Webex type of conference calls - we can handle telconf port via our phone system just need a way to do presentation.
Is it a good choice? Our meetings typically have less than 10 parties.
Hmm - nice question. Well I certainly would not buy it just for Secure Meeting. There are some many other services out there that fill the niche for less money.
However, having said that, it is a terrific product. I use it daily, sometimes multiple times a day. I think it works well and would recommend it. It is not as full featured as some other products on the market like Webex, but it is very solid. Did a Webex today with attendees from multiple east asian countries and as always everyone was satisfied with the response times they saw.
What are the other products that can do this at the similar cost?
Webex, Gotomeeting, and Livemeeting are all extremely expensive like $10+ a person/month. If I have 50 people using it, that's $6,000 a year, which is basically the cost of a SA2500.
I am not sure that your numbers are correct. To run 50 users on Secure Meeting I believe that you will need the base unit, the 50 user license and a 50 user Secure Meeting license.
My sales guys do the pricing but from memory I thought that it would be quite a bit more.
For 50 users, we only need 10 concurrent license. Including equipment and other cost, it's about $7-8K for SA2500 one time cost.
If we use Webex, that's 50x$10/month, $6,000/year.
I just wonder if the group conference/desktop sharing works well or not.
I work for Juniper as you can tell, but I can say that I use Secure Meeting multiple times per day (IVE OS 6.5 and 7.0) and have no issues. I use it on Mac, Linux, and also Windows systems without problems.
I don't doubt a single bit about its one-on-one tech support capability. I intend to use it for group meetings often with 4-6 parties. That's where I am not clear on its performance.
It is totally fine for group meetings. We use it for sales presentations on a regular basis and host multiple (5 - 10+) users with no issues.
I also will often have meetings with 5-10 attendees.
