Junos Pulse DOA with El Capitan (Mac OS 10.11)

With El Capitan beta 2, Junos Pulse is broken. The connection settings disappear and when I try connecting, it says "Failed to connect to the Juniper Unified Network Service".

When I look at the system log file, I find this:

Jun 23 19:58:30 tw-mbp13-slee Junos Pulse[14030]: *** -[NSThread initWithTarget:selectorSmiley Surprisedbject:]: target does not implement selector (*** -[ConsoleAppDelegate scriptRunningProc])

Jun 23 19:58:30 tw-mbp13-slee Junos Pulse[14030]: .sdef warning for argument 'FileType' of command 'save' in suite 'Standard Suite': 'saveable file format' is not a valid type name.

Jun 23 19:58:30 tw-mbp13-slee Junos Pulse[14030]: Attempting to deallocate <NSMachPort: 0x7a285520> that has not had -invalidate called on it. Breakpoint on _NSPortError debug.

Jun 23 19:58:32 tw-mbp13-slee Junos Pulse[14030]: Attempting to deallocate <NSMachPort: 0x7a285520> that has not had -invalidate called on it. Breakpoint on _NSPortError debug.

Jun 23 19:58:33 tw-mbp13-slee Junos Pulse[14030]: Attempting to deallocate <NSMachPort: 0x7a285520> that has not had -invalidate called on it. Breakpoint on _NSPortError debug.

Jun 23 19:58:34 tw-mbp13-slee Junos Pulse[14030]: Attempting to deallocate <NSMachPort: 0x7a285520> that has not had -invalidate called on it. Breakpoint on _NSPortError debug.

...

Is this a known issue? Can there be a workaround for this? Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Junos Pulse has not been updated yet with the new OS 10.11 Beta. You have to be a bit patient. Juniper is working on this

Does 5.1R3.2 work fine with El Capitan? Is there a way for me to test that?

Thanks.

Hi,

No idea if it will run. I have nog 10.11 osx running. You can download it from the juniper support site

below you will find the direct url. (you need an account to have access to the pulse client)

https://webdownload.juniper.net/swdl/dl/secure/site/1/record/58736.html

I'm with 5.1r3.2-b56743 and can confirm it's NOT working on beta 2 of El Capitan(Mac OS 10.11)

Re: Junos Pulse DOA with El Capitan (Mac OS 10.11)

Hello All,

Thank you for the feedback on this issue.  It looks like an issue with the Beta 2 release.  I was running Beta 1 without any issues with Pulse.  Once I upgrade to Beta 2, I am able to replicate the issue.

I will be discussing this internally to see what is the problem here.  While we do not officialy support the Mac OS X 10.11 release yet, please feel free to raise any ticket with support if you see any further issues with the beta releases.

Re: Junos Pulse DOA with El Capitan (Mac OS 10.11)

Can you please review the debuglog.log and confirm if you are receiving the following messages:

00163,09 2015/06/25 10:23:12.159 1 root dsAccessService dsAccessService p0076 t386F verify.cpp:62 - 'dsVerifySignature' SecStaticCodeCheckValidity failed. (status=-67050)
00221,09 2015/06/25 10:23:12.159 1 root dsAccessService dsAccessService p0076 t386F accessPluginLoader.cpp:113 - 'AccessService' plugin /Applications/Junos Pulse.app/Contents/Plugins/JamUI/uiModelService.dylib, invalid signature
00189,09 2015/06/25 10:23:12.159 1 root dsAccessService dsAccessService p0076 t386F accessPluginLoader.cpp:607 - 'AccessService' trying to create instance on plugin uiModelService while in state 1

If so, I went into my system keychain and found the G5 root was set it as "TRUSTED".  This seemed to resolve the issue.
