Junos Pulse on blackberry

I've been trying to get a blackberry working on our SSL VPN and came across the Junos Pulse app. I read some information regarding the App on iphone and android and it seemed like the perfect solution. The blackberry version came out on Dec.10.2010, but apparently is a different application altogether as it is a security app and not a vpn client. Any Juniper reps or experts care to shed some light on this? And why the blackberry OS (largest business marketshare in North America) has seemingly been ignored in favour of iphone and android? Is there a vpn client for Juniper SA's currently in development and when are they expecting to release it?

BlackBerry uses their own BES server for the encryped communication to/from the device, which means that 3rd party VPN clients aren't really needed on those devices. While this has its benefits with e-mail, it does limit what application developers might decide to offer on the BlackBerry. And if there are no business apps that require layer 3 VPN service (e.g. streaming clinical data), then the value and demand of having a VPN is pretty low.

The bottom line is that the BlackBerry model is just very tighly controlled by RIM and not open to 3rd party VPN applications or apps that would require them. If their options should ever change, then we will certainly consider such support a priority. At least for now, we are offering as many BlackBerry features as we possibly can via the Junos Pulse Mobile Security Suite.

I'm facing the same problem: to create a single entry point for BlackBerry, Apple and Android devices on a network accessible via Juniper SA and BES.

How did you manage to solve the problem without a VPN client application for BB?

If you use the Blackberry Browser (the built-in version) then you don't need SSL-VPN, as it gives you internal access.

Just create the home page of the BB browser to be the internal server (intranet.company.com).

My enterprise is using a Microsoft BES in the cloud for Exchange sync and so this limited BES does not support intranet browser connectivity.  Not a big deal with the older handsets as we never developed anything for the users to want to use.  But with BB10, as with our iOS and Android devices, we anticipate a demand for VPN access for SharePoint and file shares.  Currently our iOS and Android handsets have Pulse clients.  Is there one for the BB10?
