Licenses Migration from SA 4500 to X600 Series

hello Community,

i migrated from SA 4500 to MAG 4610,

on my old SA cluster, i have 1000 concurrent users, and only 100 on my MAG cluster.

is there a way to basicaly "export/import" these 1000 licences to my new cluster?

thanks for your feedback!

Hi Filipe,

thanks for the info, even if it's not really the one i would like...Smiley Indifferent

it's bad news, that means i just lost 2000 licenses...(cluster)

these licenses are not priceless as you know Smiley Happy

i would love to get a feedback from Juniper on this topic.

or maybe could a license server would do the job?

I've 5000 user licenses...

Of course you should do your math, but for me, in the near future IF I upgrade the SA, I will buy the license server... because it mutch less to buy 5000 users + License Server + Licenses to use the license server, thar just buy 3x1000 user (in my scenario I will use 3 SMs).

What type of license do you have on the MAG currently?  Usually, they are specific to hardware so they generally you cannot apply a SA license to a MAG device.

In regards to migration, I would reach out to your sales representative to see what they can do.

While it is true that the licenses are tied to particular hardware platforms, my experience has been that the local Juniper sales team can works some back end discounts to allow migration from old hardware to new one without purchasing full price new licenses.

If you don't have your local Juniper sales team, ask your partner to contact the Juniper sales team and look at your migration situation.  If your partner does not want to do this for you I would get a new partner.
