Licenses Terminology for SSL VPN

Hi,

Would appreciate if anyone can explain me in simple words for the following Licensing terminilogy -

Active / Active

Active / Passive

Active / Standby

Also another question -

example - i have 500 license in one box and 500 in another box which are clustered, Can the primarary box user all 1000 liceses for connections or it would only use 500 from the primary box?

Thanks for the help.

Kevin.

Re: Licenses Terminology for SSL VPN

Active/Active cluster: where there is a load balancer fronting the connection and both nodes actively service users

Active/passive == active/standby: where the configuration is shared, but only one node handles users at a time. There is a cluster virtual port that is shared between nodes, only the active responds to ARPs to "own" the connection. If there is an issue on the active, users will switch

Re: Licenses Terminology for SSL VPN

If you have 500 licenses on nodeA and 500 licenses on nodeB you have 1,000 licenses for users.

See http://www.juniper.net/us/en/local/pdf/datasheets/1000357-en.pdf

This would be on the MAG system boxes, the Secure Access stuff may be different.
