Hi,
We have a MAC 4610 running 7.1x with a full ICE license. Our business has decided to cluster (Active/Passive) this box and was wondering how the ICE license is handled. Do we need an additional ICE License for the Passive Node? My vendor is telling me we need two (one for each box), which goes against the standard licenses of being shared. I've gone through a bunch of KB's, forums and sites, but still haven't found my answer.
Thank you!
Hi John,
Yes, the vendor is right. We need one ICE license per unit in the cluster one each for the activer and passive and Not one license for the entire cluster as per the new licensing process.
This is the supporetd way and its confirmed as well.
Hope this helps.

Here is the datasheet for the ICE license: http://www.juniper.net/us/en/local/pdf/datasheets/1000171-en.pdf
In order to use this, you will need the ICE-CL (In case of emergency - cluster) option for the passive node that has your clustering license
What if we are running 7.2Rxx?
Do we need 2 x ICE license in the cluster?
What would be the Part Number to indicate?
Hi Michael
If you are running 7.2Rx, ICE licenses should be installed each on every node in a cluster.
So each MAG node in the IC cluster needs ICE license seperately, moreover on MAG platforms, there are no ÐCL licenses. so only new licensing model is allowed.
Hope this resolves your query

Hi Michael,
Kb http://kb.pulsesecure.net/KB16007 will help
You can activate and then deactivate, so as long as you have days left from the 8 weeks, the license will be valid
