We're looking to upgrade our SA6500s from 6.5 to 7. Consequently, the users' NC upgrades as well.
In testing, however, when a user already has version 6.5 of NC and connects to the 7 controller, the upgrade is fairly painless -- except that now there is a version 7 AND version 6.5 network connect in the user's start menu. Sure, the user can manually uninstall the old one, but... Shouldn't the automatic upgrade of NC remove the old version? Is this documented somewhere, or just an artifact of our test setup having a different name from the production system?
You are welcome; sorry for the confusion for your helpdesk team and users.
This is working as designed; the Network Connect application is not designed to remove previous client versions. If you do not want to have both versions on the PCs, you will need to manually remove them.
Wow. That's surprising, and will lead to a ton of user confusion, especially since Windows presents the old version by default in the Start menu unless you drill down. Would be nice to have an option to remove the obsolete version... Time to brief the help desk. Thanks for confirming this, though!
