We are using juniper SSL VPN and would like to deploy another one. However, the thing we don't like is Network Connect need to be upgraded if we ugprade the software and it does not remove old version. just installs a new one so old shortcut does not work after upgrade.
Our users may not have admin privilege, therefore they cannot update and cannot connect to VPN. We got email complain all the time due to network connect issue.
Do we have anything better that less job for users and support?
What product is good for IP sec VPN. We need network access, not share resources via web?
Windows VPN is the most easy for client but not secure enough.
Two possible solutions
1. install Juniper Installer Service on the client workstation for one time.
Maintenance --> System --> Installers
This component simplifies future software installation and upgrades from Juniper Networks for users with limited desktop privileges.
2. Configure Junos pulse.
With this option you do not require the clients to be upgraded that frequently when SA build is upgraded.
You have to refer the junos pulse compatability guide to prevent any issues.
Please mark this post as 'accepted solution' if this answers your question that way it might help others as well, a kudo would be a bonus thanks!!
We are using 7.1R8 (build 20737) as don't want user complains.
With Juniper Installer Service solution, user still needs to install new package if new software is updated on SA but does not require local admin previlege, is that right?
For Junos pulse, do we still need local admin to update Junos Pulse if the old one is not compatable any more?
Juniper installer service does not require to be upgraded every time the device is upgraded eg 7.1 Juniper installer service should upgrade clients of 7.1,7.2,7.3 etc.
please refer the following KB
Junos pulse requires admin rights
¥ Installing the Juniper Networks Installer MSI package requires administrator rights to
install onto your client systems. If you plan to use the EXE version, administrator rights
is not needed as long as a previous version of the access service component (deployed
through, for example, JIS, Pulse, and so forth) is already present. If policies are defined
for your client with the group policy Run only Allowed Windows ApplicationÓ, the
following files must be allowed to run in the group policy. If not, client applications
