Noob upgrade.

Our long serving Pulse SME has retired today, leaving me to look after the appliance. PSA5000 running 9.0R4.1 -  I have been left with a potentially urgent upgrade and need to understand some basics.

Can I upgrade from 9.0R4.1 to 9.1Rx in one step? i.e. Will I have to do minor upgrades first? And also, the client: The client is v. 9.0.4 - is there a specific client I need to match the system software? I pressume the client will need to be 9.1.x ?  Any advice/assistance would be greatly appreciated as there was only so much my predecessor could share (and that was all operational)

Thanks

Re: Noob upgrade.

Hello!

There are very useful tech publications available, especially in your case, the release notes.

They contain a section called upgrade paths which you would find useful.

Example: this one is for 9.1R11.3

https://www-prev.pulsesecure.net/download/techpubs/current/2309/pulse-connect-secure/pcs/9.1rx/9.1r1...

Regarding the pulse desktop client. I've never had any problems between versions where they differ between client and server. And if you have auto upgrade enable, I believe clients would be asked to upgrade once 9.1R11.3 (for example) is installed since it should contain a new PDC version.

Re: Noob upgrade.

Can I go from 9.0R4.1 to 9.1R10 ?  Or do I have to install earlier releases?

Re: Noob upgrade.

yes, you can make the jump directly
you can also leave the client on that release and upgrade it later or have it upgrade with the server. the client is not dependent on the server version
