Observations on upgrade to PSAL and Pulse 9.1r11.3

For us when "Enable web installation and automatic upgrade of Pulse Secure clients" is disabled the install does NOT go well... uninstall .exe seems to work well, but when users go back in to vpn webpage they have issues installing PSAL/Host Checker (have to try a few times, then it works), then if they accidently uninstalled ALL Pulse apps the Pulse Setup Client won't install.   "The server configuration requires the application be pre-installed on your machine."    If I enable auto upgrade, everything works PERFECTLY.  BUT I'm afraid of forcing the upgrade on the 85% of users that have a working Pulse Secure client.    If I force the upgrade then those working users will HAVE to use the uninstall .exe, right?

and we are getting an error on some Mac users PSAL "detected and internal error"   digging into hidden mac files and deleted all Pulse folders does allow a fresh install, and resolves the issue.

Re: Observations on upgrade to PSAL and Pulse 9.1r11.3

Jordan,

I tried this both ways.  First, tried with it disabled and tested it on my home personal pc and again on a work pc and both worked fine. Second, tried with the option enabled to see what would occur and there wasn't any upgrade that occured.

I was on version 9.1R11.1 and prior to this issue I was using this option to upgrade clients from 9.1R10.1 to R11.1.   So I'm not sure which version you are on.

Did you try it on a computer to see if the upgrade option appears?  If so, did it successfully work or fail?

Any other questions I'd be happy to tell you my experience.

I upgraded last night and today still working.  Prayers were answered.

I ended up leaving the Auto upgrade turned on.  I was able to test, and like you said, it doesn't upgrade anything.   I guess it doesn't concider 9.1r11 to r11.3 an upgrade.    what's annoying is the kb said to NOT USE the included version of Pulse Secure.   that confuses me.

I am thinking they don't want us to go the installers page and download the client is my guess.
