Open Directory - SSL VPN

This is a long shot if someone can help us, but we have an Apple Open Directory server and are wondering if it would substitute for an Active Directory server to provide user authentication. Open Directory can represent itself as a PDC to windows users, and we'd like to access groups on that server to authenticate ssl vpn connections. We are considering an SSL VPN 4500 but this would be a necessary prerequisite. Thanks.

As long as Apple Open Directory supports LDAP and preferably LDAPS then it should work. (I'm pretty sure it does.) Just set up your realm using LDAP or LDAPS and you should be good to go.
