Pre Defined Host Checks (Sep 11)

Does anyone know what the Sep 11 Pre Defined host check actually looks at? About 1 out of every 40 machines we have installed Sep 11 on fail the Sep 11 host check. I can't seem to figure it out. Typically a reinstall will fix the problem. However the Sep 11 software is working fine on the machines that fail. So I was hoping to gain some insight as to what the check was looking for so I could better troubleshoot this anomaly.

Interesting - I'm troubleshooting why my predefined check for Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 is not working, too. My test case is not working (maybe his machine is the 1 in 40). For the moment, I'll probably implement a process check, if there is a unique process name.

I tried doing a process instead. Unfortunetly there was an issue where in order for the host checker to check a process that was running under SYSTEM the user logged in needed local admin rights. So this killed this idea for us. I am sure there might be a work around to get the process to load under the local users account but this might cause other issues.

What version are you using. Host Checker not detecting processes running as SYSTEM is a bug that appeared in 6.1R1 and was fixed in 6.1R2.1.

I am running 6.0R5. Although when i had the issue with SYSTEM I was running 6.0R3. I haven't tried it since. It would work, but only when a local admin was logged in.

Not sure our problems were the same, but mine were fixed by moving to ESAP 1.3.8. Have you tried that?
