Problem in connection to Microsoft Outlook 2003 via Juniper SA 700 for some users ??

Hi,

I encountered some issues for some VPN users profiles in accessing Microsoft Outlook 2003 via SA 700. The only remediation is to delete those affected users account from the SA and recreate them again and after which, these users are able to access the outlook. The problem is intermittent and it is only affecting certain group of users.

One strange sympton is that they are able to VPN successfully and also able to ping to the outlook, but just could not launch the outlook. We are using the latest IVE version and the client platform are Windows XP SP2. I am just wondering does anyone face the same issue as mine and what's the recommended workaround solutions or is this is a known issue or any fix patch for me to apply ?

Thanks in advance.

Same issue - only on SA-4000 after upgrading from v 5.5R1 to 6.3R1 - several corporate laptops running XP sp2 running Network Connect can open Outlook client but it never connects. All were fine before the upgrade.

Try this may be this will fix

For Outlook 2003 client you can get to this setting by going to: Tools >Account settings > Change > More settings > Security > Change the Logon Network security to Password Authentication (NTLM)

Re: Problem in connection to Microsoft Outlook 2003 via Juniper SA 700 for some users ??

I've experienced the same type of problem with a community of users on IVEs at 6.0r3.1, and been wondering why I haven't seen the problem with a larger group of users on an IVE running some version of 5.4. My belief is that it has something to do with a large Kerberos authentication packet (UDP) getting dropped. Has anyone opened a case with JTAC?

The recommendation to change to NTLM authentication should work. Alternatively, you might want to read http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;244474 about how to force Kerberos to use TCP instead of UDP.

Kenlar's solution works for some users. Another solution is to ask the users to upgrade their DSL router. Kenlar's solution should be the right one, as I saw that drive-mapping also does not work. However I still have some users having the issue.

Re: Problem in connection to Microsoft Outlook 2003 via Juniper SA 700 for some users ??

Hi,

We have also had problems where MTU is the cause. By lowering the MTU on the IVE's external interface from default 1500 to 1400 users having problem with home drive mapping over NC was able to success (problem happend only with some network devices in some countries).

The outlook problem described in the title happends for us with the lower MTU aswell but is intermittently and mostly it works, and when it doesn't it starts working after 20-60 minutes.
