Pulse Client on iPhone with Certificate Auth

Hi,

since the latest update of Pulse Secure on my iPhone I cant see any device certificates.

The version where it worked was some 6.8.0.x version, but since 7.0.0.77591 I cant see my certificates.

Is this a known issue?

Regards

Dominik

Re: Pulse Client on iPhone with Certificate Auth

Hi Dominik,

Can you go to the connection, then click the "..." to get into the connection settings?  Do you see Authentication as certificate?  if you click into that, and then Certificate, do you see any certficates installed?

Also, if you go to iOS Settings > General, if you scroll down after iTunes Wi-Fi Sync and VPN, you may see "Profiles & Device Management". Do you see any configuration profiles which contain the cert you want to use?  If not, how did you get the cert on your device?

Regards

Re: Pulse Client on iPhone with Certificate Auth

So we too just noticed this issue.  Had a user come by and complain he was getting an error and no certificates are there to be see in the Certificates section.  We DO see them in Profiles and Device Management so they are there on the device.  Have confirmed on a second device that also got the latest update on 8/16.

Also, tried creating a brand new connection as well in Pulse Secure on the iPhones and neither one would see the certificates there either.

Edit:  Looks like it's a known issue:

And that it appears to be a change in functionality isn't very cool.  Our certs were sent to the device inside an AirWatch profile.  Those are showing on the device but still not showing up inside the Pulse Secure app. Not sure where to go from here.  I've read the document but it's not clear other than repush the profile.  We've done that and it's still a no go.  Also, it claims that if you were working before the update to the app it shouldn't affect you but that's not what we are seeing.  Frustrating.

And one last edit.... I had to go create VPN it's very own profile with it's very own certificate and then push and it's working.  That's a huge pain.  :-(

I'm seeing this issue as well. The cert is in the profile but the pulse app cannot see it when setting up a new connection.

Yes, I am having the same issue.  I have a brand new cert on my iPad, but since the last update, Pulse says there is nothing installed. Any updates?

Re: Pulse Client on iPhone with Certificate Auth

Hello Matertat,

Please refer to the following KB for the latest information:

https://kb.pulsesecure.net/articles/Pulse_Secure_Article/KB43813

Pulse Secure is looking to resolve the issue in a later release, but this will only help prevent this issue for end user who have not upgraded yet.  Once the end user has upgraded and the permissions on the certificate has been changed, the recommended solution is to contact your help desk to repush the MDM profile.
