Pulse VPN Slow on Ubuntu 18.04, Fast on Win 10

Hi team,

I have Pulse Version: 9.1R5(151) for Linux, running on Ubuntu 18.04 with all packages up to date. My connection speed is really slow, not reaching 1 Mbps on a 50 Mbps link.

Same account, but on Windows 10 PC, using same link has 20 Mbps while connected.

I ruled out wifi as I have ran speed tests with and without VPN on both Ubuntu and Windows PC. Also tried using OpenConnect via Network Manager, with same results: slow on linux.

Googled for a similar issue with no results. No existent KB article applies.

Can you guys help me to debug the issue or point me in the right direction?

Usually I've the opposite results, lousy throughput in windows and great throughput in ubuntu.

It is the same physical computer with windows and ubuntu?

Are the same cypher suites used? (check in Advanced Connection/Status Details).

I am using Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS. My connection to the server was quite slow. I gave up on the wireless connection and switched to a wired connection. It works fine now.

were you using SSL transport or ESP transport when on wireless?
though, i am glad to hear it was resolved and you can connect successfully with reasonable speed
