Pulse breaks wireless network stack

Hi All,

I have a relly strange issue whereby Pulse is breaking the wireless network stack on my Win 7 64-bit machines. This applies to Pulse 5.02, 5.06 and 5.07. The steps taken are:-

Install Pulse and login

Shut down machine without logging out of Pulse

Reboot machine and try to connect to any wireless network

At this point, the error message immediately given by the machine is 'unable to connect'. The connection attempt does not even leave the machine, hence no logs on Juniper, Wireless Access Points, IAS/NPS servers etc.

If I uninstall Pusle completely and revert to Network Connect, all is fine (ticket with JTAC 2014-1121-0307 - WIFI Unable to connect to any SSID intermittantly after upgrading to Pulse 5.0.6).

Any ideas how to troubleshoot further?

Thanks

Natasha

Re: Pulse breaks wireless network stack

This sounds like behavior that changes were introduced in 5.0R3 to resolve
Do you have Odyssey installed as well?
Can you confirm that the jnprna driver is no longer on the system?
Do you have wireless suppression enabled in any of your connection sets?
Does the behavior happen if you DO logout of Pulse prior to reboot?

Re: Pulse breaks wireless network stack

Hi zanyterp,

Thanks for the reply. Answers below:-

Do you have Odyssey installed as well? Nope
Can you confirm that the jnprna driver is no longer on the system? This gets uninstalled fully before the next version of Pulse is loaded
Do you have wireless suppression enabled in any of your connection sets? yes, tried to disable it with no affect
Does the behavior happen if you DO logout of Pulse prior to reboot? Yes, if I logout of Pulse, it still happens. It seems to happen just by having Pulse installed.

Thanks,

Natasha

Re: Pulse breaks wireless network stack

Hi,

I just solved the issue by upgrading to 5.1.R1 version.

Re: Pulse breaks wireless network stack

Hi Gric,

My issue was resolved by following the below steps:-

I had a company Group Policy which enabled WLAN Autoconfig

SCCM-Installed Pulse 5.0.6 which disabled this

Re-applied the GPO to enable it again

Thanks
