SA 4500 - Link speed

Hello

I would like to know the best pratices for the network card speed. Is-it better to fix the speed configuration in the SA4500 and on the swith to "Auto" or to fix the speed to "1000 Full duplex" ?

And for network, do you knwo if best pratcies exist regarding MTU, Timeout, etc....

Re: SA 4500 - Link speed

Best practices is to keep default values.

Default MTU is 1500 for SA devices.

With respect to spped, you could keep it to Auto at switch.

Re: SA 4500 - Link speed

For link speed/duplex, I believe these are always better to explicitly set on both sides for the switch and the SA.  This prevents any accidental half-duplex connections from occuring.

With the MTU, I would generally leave these at the default unless you have specific connetion paths where you know there are restrictions and need to make sure the path mtu is clean all the way through.
