We have multiple SA-6500 spread acroos the country in an active/active/active state. The last upgrade we performed automatically upgraded one unit and then progressed to automatically upgrade everyother unit. I now see a nerw option to 'State' the upgrade package which I've used. My question is: We are currently on 7.0 and need to have full control of when each SA-6500 is upgraded. When I click 'Install from Staged Area" will this only upgrade that node OR will it upgrade that node and progress to everyother node automatically?
Thx,.
From what I have seen in my test cluster, if you do not have the image staged across all the appliances individually, it will be pushed out to other nodes much like it did prior to the staging function.
I would actually be curious to see whether pre-staging it on all appliances gives you a different result (other than simply allowing you to forego having the image pushed across multiple cluster members) I am not sure that it does.
@ plago: Yes it will upgrade that node and progress to every node automatically. The only way to not upgrade other nodes is by disabling them from cluster temporarily.
@ red: If you pre-stage the exact same package version locally to each node and then initiate upgrade from one node then it will upgrade all nodes in the cluster by utilizing each nodes locally staged package rather than pushing it out to each nodes. In fact I would recommend this option to reduce the maintenance window by not having to wait for each node to push software packages over WAN links.
