Hi,
the session act that is disconnected even though it shows as connected.
In a citrix session in the time the ping on the not responding host runs the session freezes.
After the default of 4 ping request the ctrix session reconnects.
In the case of the printer software that periodically wants to check the status of a printer which is offline this occurs in
the intervall that is configured in the printer software. as you can mention there is no working possible if the session
freezes every minute.

We have been struggling with this issue for many weeks now.
At first it was only Windows 8 users. We were running 7.2R3. We were told to upgrade to 7.3R5 (or later) and it would remmediate that issue.
We upgraded to 7.4R2. At the time of the upgrade 7.4R3 was a couple of days old so it was decided to just use 7.4R2.
The issue still exists, but it is not just Windows 8 not being able to keep a steady connection, but it is Windows XP,7 and 8. It also doesnt matter what browser they are using IE8 thru IE10 or Firefox... It also happens to MAC (Apple).
We have an open ticket.
I did read on a Non Juniper Forum that someone was successful by changing the cache paramater from smart to unchanged. I also read that there is a possiblility that services like Bonjour or mDNS Responder on client system, dynamically changes the system route and could cause the disconnect.
Unfortunately it appears that it is all speculation without a soid solution.
So is there a clear solution to this issue?
How many release of 7.3 & 7.4 are there and how far apart are the releases?
Did 7.4 R2 through 7.4 R5 all come out this month?
This comment.. (well the orginal one by mju back on page 5 about the Windows Loation Provider) and subsequent ones/clues helped me solve me recurrent disconnect/reconnect issues.
I have a Windows 8 based PC with an HP Photosmart 5510 printer connected via wireless. What I have discovered is if the printer is powered OFF I am disconnected and reconnected from Remote Desktop every 30-60 seconds.
If I turn the printer ON... The disconnects and reconnects in Remote Desktop stop once the printer is recognised as being online.
The same printer is available to my Windows 7 based laptop and this does NOT experience the disconnect / reconnect issue.
Hope this helps some others.
Peter
Hi All,
We have exactly the same problem on Windows 8 via Wireless or Wired. The only way we have overcome this is to use a Junos Pulse session to VPN to the network and then access Citrix from it's internal IP. Not great, but no hangs until Juniper can sort this mess out.
Forgot to add: This is on a MAG2600 running 7.4r3
Any updates on the 7.4R4 relase date? I really can't roll back to 7.3R6 as all my clients would have to reinstall since we are at 7.4R2. Each week it seems we have another used getting a Win 8 laptop and we reley on RDP for them to access their work PCs.
I send you a PM, dolsey01. 7.4R4 link should appear on the juniper website in a few days.
In short, there are two code changes for two different clients: Citrix Terminal Services and Juniper Terminal Services. Please make sure you are upgrading to the correct version as the code changes were implemented on two different releases.
Citrix Terminal Services is resolved in 7.4R4, 7.3R6, & 7.2R11
Juniper Terminal Services is resolved in 7.4R3 & 7.3R5
I would not use win 8 on any code other than 7.4r4
This solution fixed my issue. Once I turned on my HP Wireless printer, the connecting and reconnecting stopped.
I had recently re-installed windows 8 and then just last week downloaded the currect printer software from HP. Before I installed it, I did not have any issues connecting through VPN.
I dont want to keep my printer on all the time, so another solution would be better if someone has one.
