Scripted reboot of sa 4500

My SA boxes can only manage to work for around 10 days between reboots(Is IVE OS based on windows by chance?).

Does anyone know a simple way to script re-boots so I dont have to manually reboot the boxes?

Re: Scripted reboot of sa 4500

If you are under warranty or maintenance, open a JTAC case! Ten days is ridiculous. Most of my devices (6000s and 6500s, almost all on 6.3r4) have gone without reboot for over 100 days. And I have a hugely complex configuration with 15 IVSs, running NC, WSAM, web rewriting, terminal services, etc. If JTAC has had the problem and not figured it out, escalate. If you've escalated once, do it again.

I do have a jtac case open, for the past 3 weeks. I am working on escalating the issue, but I'm not hopeful for a speedy resolution.

Unfortunately JTAC for the ssl vpn doesnt appear to be as technically proficient as JTAC for screenos products Smiley Sad

You could script a reboot with a telnet session through a terminal server connected to the console port. You might be able to do it through Inbound DMI using XML, but that looks pretty complex to me.

FWIW my SA 6000's have stayed up for > 6 months without issue, so something isn't right ....

3 weeks is just way to long to be waiting onJTAC. Do you have a Juniper Territory Account Manager assigned to your company? If so I would call up and yell and demand some escalation. Or go back to your reseller who made a profit selling the boxes to you and have them escalate the case.

Juniper has very well defined escalation procedures in place. To have new hardware that only stays up for a 10 days is just not a good thing. I would push very hard and get the visibility of your case raised up!

Re: Scripted reboot of sa 4500

Unfortunately the problem is getting worse. The box has not been able to keep running for more than 7 days at a time, most of the time the box doesnt stay up for more than 48 hours. The cgi-server process crashes every 2-4 hours and the box hangs every 2-6 days.

It is so bad that we are planning on pulling the vpn from production and scrambling to find a replacement. I'm not looking forward to more eval boxes.............

Our account manager has tried to get the case escalated but so far nothing.

Anyone have any suggestions for replacements Smiley Surprised?

The sad thing is I have had nothing but great experiences with Juniper screenOS devices and JTAC for ScreenOS. In fact the purchase of the ssl vpn product was partly based on the great experience I have had with JTAC.
