Searching for Pulse Application Launcher - BUT IT IS INSTALLED AND WORKS on 2nd try

Strange issue, new laptop, latest Chrome.

login to VPN, great, Host Checker loads, great, then Searching for Applicaiton Launcher counts all the way down.  but if I click the little "click here to go back" button, then click Start to lauch Pulse Secure, it goes back to Search for Application Launcher, but it works!!!!!      anyone else????

unfortuanatly for this user the only reliable way will be to use ie/ActiveX.  it's a very fast laptop and I wonder if something is happening out of order.

@jordanl17 It's because of Google Chrome's security controls, it'll not allow PSAL to get auto-launched twice in a row i.e. if you switch the Pulse Client launch to manual, then it'll work everytime when the user clicks on the start button.

can you please try with Firefox browser and see if that works as expected?

so, is the answer to NOT start your Pulse Secure session in Chrome?  instead start it straight from the Pulse app (which will use IE/activeX).   Is this a new Chrome restriction?  I feel like I've used Chrome before.

@jordanl17 Yes, you can initiate the VPN connection directly from the Pulse Client (no need to use browser unless you have any bookmarks to access).

I remember replicating this issue for another customer using 73.x chrome, and got to know about this behavior as chrome JS security design i.e. PSAL will find Pulse Client on the 2nd try but not with the first attempt (auto-triggered).

Re: Searching for Pulse Application Launcher - BUT IT IS INSTALLED AND WORKS on 2nd try

just bringing this issue back up as the ONE known issue in the recent Pulse issue (running uninstall exe, re-installing, etc)  the ONE known issue is that ActiveX doesn't get fixed.   so, this kind of sucks.  I can drop a shortcut to vpn webpage, BUT no matter what browser they are using IE or Chrome (which covers 99% of all browsers used in the world) it still doesn't work properly.   Chrome has the double-PSAL issue, and IE has the non-functioning activeX.

So, my question is; how to I force Pulse Secure program to use the built in authentication interface??!?!?
