Re: Should i upgrade my ive os

If there is no need for you to upgrade due to a lack of features I'd keepd the current version you have, even though I am not sure if later releases of the 6.0 tree contain any upgrades due to security issues. If so I'd upgrade then.

Regarding the problem of different access speeds for some users I don't think that this might be OS related at all.

But the same / similar question regarding OS upgrades from 6.0 to 6.x is discussed here: http://forums.juniper.net/jnet/board/message?board.id=SSL_VPN&thread.id=2074

Re: Should i upgrade my ive os

I've had decent luck with 6.0R7 (build 13487). I've learned to stay away from lower "R" versions.

I know prior to 6.0R4 there were issues with MTU size and fragmentation. You might want to experiment with upgrade the firmware on the "slow" peoples routers. It's fixed some weird issues for me in the past.

Re: Should i upgrade my ive os

IF i upgrade my os,my focus is that my configuration files will lose?because i had configure many realms and roles,if this configuratin files lost ,it will be troublesome.the other question is that why i don't find the 6.0r2 on the juniper web site, i can only find 6.0r1 6.0r3 and so on.is the 6.0r2 os have my flaw?

Re: Should i upgrade my ive os

I've done many upgrades and my configuration has always remained stable.

To be safe, backup your system configuration and your user configuration first. Then upgrade, if you have any problems, you can downgrade and restore your old configuration.

Juniper probably no longer supports 6.0r2 which is why its not on the site.

Good Luck..

Re: Should i upgrade my ive os

I never had any upgrade problems reagrding loss of realms, roles or any other config-data since 5.x.

We always backup user and system config nightly, and before each backup I do a local backup on the IVE, eventhough a rollback once worked fine without the need to restore anything from a backup.

So I'd worry more about the functionality with the new OS than the upgrade procedure itself. Smiley Wink

Re: Should i upgrade my ive os

Now I found that when users use ie 6.0 to visit my web is quickly than use ie 7.0,what is the reason? my ive os is too old?

Re: Should i upgrade my ive os

Why do you assume based on such a user feedback (whatever slower or faster may mean here), that your IVE OS is too old?

Only because of saying it looks faster wie ie6 or are there real facts like

- comparing 2 identical pcs with the same connection, on running ie6 the other ie7, brining up the startpage takes every time of access at least 10 seconds more when using the ie7 machine

?
