Updated supported anti-virus product list

So I'm back with another question... Smiley Happy

We have a portal for our external vendors. Stil the same security as our regluar users but you don't get all network access and the only thing we require on the local PC side is a 'Valid anti-virus program' from the list of supported clients on the IVE. I've noticed that our's is kind of out of date. AVG for instance. The free version only goes up to7.x and the current version is 9.x. How would I go about updating this list to include more up to date versions? Would I need to update the build on the IVE?

Our system is:

SA-2500
Current version: 6.4R1 (build 14063)

Thanks again for the assistance.

Peace

Re: Updated supported anti-virus product list

from the download page where you download the updated software, you have the two columns (one is support OS's...6.5, 6.4, 6.3, etc..the other column is archived versions).

Below the first column is another box labeled ESAP.

Grab the current version and download it (if running XP or later, once downloaded, right-click and check the properties to make sure it's not "blocked").

From the IVE, select endpoint security in the left had bar. I forget exactly where (this is all from memory here), but in there is an option to upload a new version AND make it active.

New versions of ESAP come out every few weeks/months, so it's one of those things to keep on top of. You can only have a total of 4 versions of ESAP (so you can back out if needed), so if you already have 4 there, you'll have to delete one first...

Re: Updated supported anti-virus product list

one of our external users of our system has McAfee Security Centre as his AntiVirus, but it is not recognised by the Host Checker and he is unable to access our network from home. In the AV and Firewall checklist it states that McAfee is a recognised product, so why won't it accept that the Security Centre package is safe and allow access for the user?

we are running SA-2500 with IVE 6.5r2.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be great.

Thanks

Al

Re: Updated supported anti-virus product list

If I'm reading it correctly, your policy is 'Any product from a specific vendor'. I think the issue is that McAfee Security Center is not a supported product. The exact phrasing on my device is 'Require any supported product from a specific vendor.' Even though McAfee is supported, that specific product is not.

Re: Updated supported anti-virus product list

Thank you Tech_dude. That is exactly what I needed. I was thrown supporting this device without being there for the setup so there is a lot of things that weren't told to me about basic maintenance. Your instructions were almost perfect (not sure about the 'blocked' part) and I got it updated. Now to tell all the vendors about the new list. I wish I could layer it to accept older versions of some products as well.

Thank you
