Users cannot access intranet site or outlook when connected to Pulse

We are having issues with some user connecting to intranet resources like an internal SharePoint site or Outlook once there VPN connection is established. We are on client version 5.1.10.

Any ideas?

Is split tunneling enabled or disabled?
Do you have a proxy on the network that may not allow the VPN IP pools through?
Is the failure app-based only or also web-based?
There is an issue when using some Microsoft applications that rely on the Network Connection Status Indicator that will not work over a VPN; Outlook can be one of them.
