Virtual adapter does not get removed upon disconnect. VPN will not reconnect until system rebooted.

Been having this issue for a while now on certain Windows 10 boxes.

VPN gets established via pulse client, but upon disconnect the virtual adapter doesn't properly get removed and VPN cannot be re-established until the system is rebooted. The system does not gracefully shutdown and BSOD's. If i reboot under any other circumstance before having first established VPN connectivity, the system reboots fine.

If i try to reestablish VPN, i get a failed to create virtual adapter error. (1205)

Any ideas? I'm on the current pulse build, but i've seen this issue on the previous 4 or 5 builds too.

I would recommend opening a case. That sounds like an issue we resolved in early 5.0 or 5.1 releases
If you are still seeing it, unfortunately, it sounds like there is a case we were not aware of to test.
Please open a ticket to work with our support team.

Do you have any Cisco software installed? We have seen similar behavior with AnyConnect & Jabber
Does re-install of Pulse resolve this?

Yes, i did find the problem.
It was the Cisco softphone client that was causing the problem.

Afaik, this still exists but i just live without softphone.

I also have Cisco softphone, I work remote a fair bit so I need it too work with pulse, is there any solution/work around?

my workaround was to get a desk phone for my home office. not ideal. i don't know of any other workarounds. downgrading to win7 would probably work too.

Re: Virtual adapter does not get removed upon disconnect. VPN will not reconnect until system rebooted.

I did have a desk phone and a hardware VPN, they have decided to retire hardware VPNs and we have to be on the VPN (now pulse) to connect to the phone server (not exposed externally), so I am stuck. Going back to windows 7 is not possible with the other software I have. Just to be clear do we know any more details, is is a cisco problem or a pulse problem, do we know the root cause?

disable/remove the Cisco driver from the Pulse adapter properties
