On sporadic Vista OS machines when a user is brought into the SVW they are not brought to the login page, instead they arebrought to the Remediation page. Anyone else seeing this?
All of my XP machines are AOK. First thought is was some type of AV Security suite causing a problem, but I have working and non working Vista machines running the same security suites.
Thoughts?
I haven't seen that one, but it appears that the HostChecker is utterly broken with Vista/6.3R2.
Upon login it appears to launch, but according to task manager or process explorer doesn't really
do anything (JOHE.exe never launches). It either times out (connection loss) or sometimes
gets the user to the welcome page after 5 minutes+. The user event log shows no record of
any host checking happenin'. Had to roll back to 6.3R1.2...
Well for me the SVW works fine with Vista in this release, except that we face the problem for the need of admin credentials when running this stuff the very first time on a fresh installed vista machine as standard user.
Regarding your problem, does the remediation page show more poilicies than applicable for this realm?
The question why I ask is, we had / have the problem, but not on all PCs. If we set the startpage of the SVW as std (--) instead of setting the explicit one, inside the SVW we got a remediation pagedisplaying _all_ existing HC policies even if they were not relevant for this specific realm/role.
JTAC did not really find things, the solution is still to define the login page inside the SVW's config.
You might want to roll back to 6.2 actually... I've been told the only reason really to run 6.3 is if you're using that new centralized Security management software Juniper released.
6.2 still appears to have some Host Checker issues (at least I've noticed it incorrectly enforcing HC policies against users it clearly shouldn't be) but it's definitely much more rare than what you're talking about. I'm running 6.2R2-1 and definitely have Vista users running HC without issue.
Regarding my problems with the SVW
- the loginpage thin --> Appears since 6.0
- Vista problem for non admin users -> since 6.2 (did not test this earlier)
