Webbookmark in new window without changing URL???

hey there,

i have a problem with my webbookmarks.

i have a bookmark for an intranetsite, for example "intern.com". if you click on it the site that opens shows in the URL-bar sth. like that: "https://www.companyxyz.de/,DanaInfo=intern.com,SSO=U+"

so the URL of the bookmark is just getting attached to the SSL-VPN gateway FQDN.

now to the problem: i have a webapplication which does not work if this URL is getting rewrited like that. if I open a new window and type "intern.com" it works, if i'm doing this by clicking on the webbookmark from the startpage i'm getting into problems. i can't ask the users to type in the URL every time though, cause there are bookmarks, so how should i explain them, that they are useless? wink so i need a simple webbookmark which just opens a new window with the URL "inter.com" and not rewrites it like "https://www.companyxyz.de/,DanaInfo=intern.com,SSO=U+".

any ideas? i played a little with rewriting policies but dont really get what they are good for. I get it a little bit working when i change the value there to "do not rewrite", but then it counts for all bookmarks, although i have assigend it only to the role which includes this single bookmark. really weird.

...well and even this is not working at all. it just opens a new window with again a link to click on - then it opens a new window with only the correct URL inside. but thats also a step too much and not very effective.

need some support here please!

Re: Webbookmark in new window without changing URL???

Hello,

Keep on playing with the rewriting policy. The don't rewrite option is the correct one, You should also fill in as much of the URL as possible.
if http://www.google.be/a shouldn't be rewritten, but www.google.be should, then fill in the http://www.google.be/a.

Kind Regards

You can definitely do what you want to do. To get rid of the page that reminds you that you are going to an unrewritten page, check out "Unrewritten pages open in new window " option in Advanced Options under the Web configuration of the role.

Re: Webbookmark in new window without changing URL???

Ah great, thanks for the tipp! So opening it in a new window would solve that problem with the redirect, will test that later!

But i dont know why that setting counts for ALL bookmarks if I configure it only for one role.

Configuration of Rewriting is like that:

Name - Resource - Assigend role(s)

-NameXYZ - intern.com:80/* - Counts only for Role "intern"

-Inital Rewrite Policy *:*/* Counts For all Roles (default)

so my more specific rule is at the top but it doesnt work. rewriting happens anyway. if i change the assigend roles of the initial policy to: Counts for all Roles EXCEPT "intern", then it works, but then not only "intern.com" is getting rewrited and opened in a new window, as well all other bookmarks from other roles are doing the same! i also changed the resource of the initial policy to the single roles instead of using wildcard *:*/*, did also not work. any idea here?

thanks in advance!

Re: Webbookmark in new window without changing URL???

Hey,

If you are using the rewrite policy

Name - Resource - Assigend role(s)

-NameXYZ - http://intern.com:80/* - Counts only for Role "intern"

-Inital Rewrite Policy *:*/* Counts For all Roles (default)

Than normally the NameXYZ policy only applies to the role intern. So if you have there a webbookmark that uses http://intern.com:80/ it woudn't be rewritten. All other websites should be rewritten.

Re: Webbookmark in new window without changing URL???

well, I configured it exactly like that and it doesnt work for some reason. it counts for all the other web bookmarks aswell, dont get that working, seems as the initial rule is the active one, until the moment where I except one rule from it with other settings. than the other rule is getting active and seems to overwrite the configuration of the inital policy and counts for all other roles an their bookmarks.

using 6.3R4 -any known issues here? or am I just to stupid in some way? ;-)

BR+thanks!

Re: Webbookmark in new window without changing URL???

I'm running 6.3r4 and not seeing the problem you are facing. Is there any possibility you could attach a screen shot of your selective rewriting policies?

yes, I attached the screenshot.

made it in this order you can see on the screenshot and the other order. also tried it with not excluding that role from the initial policy.

thanks for your assistance!

Re: Webbookmark in new window without changing URL???

So, what is the URL in your bookmark? If it is http://rdcitrix/..., then it should match. I think it would match for http://rdcitrix as well. Somehow, it appears to be that the IVE is not matching to that policy. Have you done a policy trace to see what is occurring?
