My company uses Juniper for our firewall and VPN. It seems like Host Checker lags behind in approving updates to common free antivirus software such as AVG and Avast.
For example, AVG 2011 has been available for 2-3 months and AVG 2010 is now de-supported (no more updates), yet I cannot VPN into my work network with AVG 2011 because Juniper Host Checker does not recognize AVG 2011 as a valid antivirus program.
This slowness of Juniper to approve antivirus updates is now harming our corporate security by forcing us to continue using old, de-supported editions of antivirus programs.
AVG 10 Licensed version was added back in the Oct 26th 1.6.5 ESAP update, and AVG 2011 Free was added in the Nov 16th ESAP 1.6.6 update. So support is there just a matter of what ESAP package is installed on your Juniper SSL appliance would be the only thing holding you back at this point.
Thank you, evcard!
My support staff explicitly told me that the Nov 16 patch did *not* support AVG 2011 Free, so there it sounds like there are some crossed wires somewhere.
Unless I'm reading something wrong, the release notes for 1.6.6 only mentions AVG Free 10.x, but not 11.x. I'm also getting asked alot about support for version 11, so this would be good to know.
I have the same problem, I just install new ios 7.0 version 4 and it is not include.
It is easiers to look at default virus software on multiple type of platform than looking
a different type of registry for all of them ????
Can you please add AVG 2011 please ?
AVG for some reason calls the latest of the Licensed version AVG 10, and the Free Version is AVG 2011, but in Juniper it is AVG 10 Free and then AVG 10 which is the licensed. Both are supported currently. the Licensed was added in the Oct 1.6.5 ESAP package, and the Free version support was added in 1.6.6 of the ESAP which released in Nov.
the OS platform, either 6.5 or 7.0 won't impact what AV products are supported that is controlled by which ESAP package you have loaded in the Host Checker, as 1.6.7 is the most current, so support for both will be there if you have that package installed.
