Wired or wireless client?

Has anyone found out how to determine if user is on WLAN or wired when connecting to SA appliance?

I tried to (longshot) evaluate a MAC adress but do not get the resulting MAC adress of client, only if the HC policy was evaluated OK/NOT OK...

The windows registry trick also seems like a hard way to get this info..

Re: Wired or wireless client?

Hi Lilja,

SA doesn't have feature for determine which interface used for connection, HostChecker MAC address check policy checks whole MAC address which system has.

I'm not sure exact solution but the possibility to control your requested solution will be 3rd party HC rule or remote IMV by using TNC service.

Thanks,

Hiro

That would be a good idea to forward to your local account team for an enhancement request.

I think the metircs on a route print statement will show if you can get to the client.

Sure, but to get that information would demand a script to run on the client, right?
