I've just installed the ps-pulse-win-9.0r2.0-b1151-64bitinstaller version on a brand new Lenova Flex14 laptop. I then ran the certificate installer and was told it installed successfully. I opened Pulse, created a new connection profile, saved it and clicked connect. It just sits there saying "connecting, trying to connect, connecting, trying to connect" etc. It never even asks me for a user name and password. Anyone have a clue what is going on? I've uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted, cleared certificates, and yes, when uninstalling i click "no" on the little box that says "save pulse secure data" like that makes a difference. HELP!
Hello Akuvar,
The pulse log (debuglog.log in C:\ProgramData\Pulse Secure\Logs directory) should give some information about where the connection if failing. It would either fail in two places:
If you see the following entry "Received server certificate", then you are getting past both scenarios as it is able to retrieve the device certificate.
It's returning a "no active connections" error in the log. Thanks for turning me onto that log, BTW. But it still leaves me with a non-working pulse!
Hey Akuvar,
Could you provide a few lines before and after the log entry you are referring to?
So it seems it was the client certificate. I had installed it earlier, and usually when you connect, if you've forgotten to install it, it gives a pop-up saying "no valid certificate". There must have been something corrupted. In the log I was going through line by line and one said "invalid client certificate" so I reinstalled the certificate and bingo, it connected immediately. Wow.
This seems very odd. If there was no valid certificate, then it should state "missing/invalid certificate" from the Pulse client. If you have other problems, please let us know as we can take a deeper look.
Overall, I am glad it is working again though
